Correction: An article Thursday about six gay linguists discharged from the Defense Language Institute in Monterey stated incorrectly that all six had disclosed their homosexuality to the military. Specialist Alastair Gamble did not disclose his sexual orientation to his commander. Rather, he was discovered in his bedroom with his boyfriend, in violation of curfew, prompting an inquiry and discharge under the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy. read more
